Carol Ricketts

I have been a therapist for 16 years.  Initially qualified as a Psychodynamic and Humanistic Counsellor and later as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist. I have training in CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) EFT (Emotionally focussed Therapy) and Theraplay (informed practice).   Through continuous professional development I have the advantage of using a collection of theoretical ideas, skills and experiences to inform my practice and provide the best intervention for my clients.  I am a flexible, dedicated, reliable, passionate and committed psychotherapist and (Approved) Clinical Supervisor who will work with whatever you decide to bring to the sessions and together we will find the most useful and effective ways forward. I am a member UKCP (United Kingdom Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by their code of practice.

I have a long career in understanding distress (trained as a Bereavement counsellor) but more so understanding and knowing what kind of therapy will be the most helpful.  I really believe that ‘where there is a will, there is always a way’.   I worked as Counselling Manager for MIND (mental health charity) for 7 years and previous to that worked, as a Family Mediator/Counsellor, with Homeless Young people and their families. Trained and worked in various CAMHS.  For the past 10 years I have worked in Social Services, as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, Consultant and Supervisor with Looked After Children/Adoption and Birth Families.

The Relationship Therapy Centre is inspired by my passion for therapeutic communication and years of experiencing the difference it can make to people’s lives.
